About BACC Program

What is BACC?

The Basic Allowance for Child Care (BACC) is a military allowance designed to help offset the cost of child care for eligible service members. The allowance varies based on rank, geographic location, and the age of children.

Calculation Formula

Individual Child Allowance = Base Rank Allowance × Geographic Multiplier × Age Multiplier × (1 - Cost Share)

Key Factors

  • Base Rank Allowance: Higher ranks typically receive lower base allowances
  • Geographic Multiplier: Adjusts for local cost of living differences
  • Age Multiplier: Younger children (infants/toddlers) have higher multipliers due to increased care costs
  • Cost Share: The percentage of childcare costs the service member pays (typically 10%)

BACC is a proposed program that does not currently exist. This calculator is a research tool used to demonstrate potential benefits and advocate for creating this military benefit.
